I realize it has been a while since our last blog, but things have been moving fast and furious and we just didn't have the time or energy to write one. We are back at it though and happy to share all of our progress.
Pool
September, October and November have been the months of notable progress on our pool and man has it come together. The gunite was completed on the pool, the coping and tiling is done, all the equipment has been installed, the pool deck has been poured and the plaster work and fencing will go in next. It's amazing how it has come together. The work by Platinum Pools and Paul Medina has been nothing short of remarkable. Once we get everything complete, we will host a Polar Bear Plunge as a fundraiser for the Team Jack Foundation for anyone who wants to join us. Look for more announcements on this soon.
Camping Additions
We were very blessed in the months of September, October and November! We have had absolutely wonderful guests stay with us both overnight and monthly, which has been a true blessing.
We are excited to announce that our 100ft Pull-Through Sites will soon be open, which will expand our current offerings to 29 total camp pads available for rent. Next year, we will begin work on the next phase of development, which will provide the potential to add up to 28 more full-hookup sites with expansion into the adjacent 5-acres of land, along with a dump station. The long-term plan for the additional 5 acres will include a bar & grill in the old Thompson Gas building on the property!
We also have added Hammock Camping as part of our offerings! Yes, that's right, HAMMOCK CAMPING! A Hammock Camping Pod has been installed near our Glamping Tents that can accommodate up to 4 hammocks and allow campers the ability to enjoy themselves as a group or as individuals. Plenty of fire rings and picnic tables are available for everyone!
Community Involvement
Recently, we were extremely excited to be involved in three awesome community events and we can't thank Tellico Plains enough for everyone's support. We were able to participate in the inaugural Tellico Plains Merchants Association Chili Cookoff and I'm happy to report that Mecca Camp Resort's Campfire Chili walked away at the Champion.
We also had the opportunity to host the Family Fun Zone at the Charohala Skyway Festival! What an awesome event this was! We brought picnic tables and campground games for all the families to enjoy. Naturally, Cornhole and Life Size Jenga were big hits! Special thanks to Pam Hall from the Charles Hall Museum for allowing us to participate. It was the largest turnout ever for this annual event!
And lastly, we celebrated Halloween downtown by handing out candy and toys to kids at the annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Tellico Plains Chief of Police. It was a great event! We were told that roughly 1200 kids came through to participate.
Closing
As we enter into the winter season, Mecca Camp Resort will remain open, so if you're looking for a weekend get-away, please don't hesitate to contact us for availability! From our family to yours... Happy Camping and we look forward to seeing you soon!
