We are thrilled to share some exciting updates and news as we kick off the new camping season at Mecca Camp Resort. First and foremost, we are proud to announce that we have received official designation as a resort within Monroe County, marking a significant milestone for us. Becoming a part of this wonderful community has been a dream come true, and we're eager to contribute to the vibrant tourism landscape of Tellico Plains, TN, and the surrounding areas.
According to Blaina Best, the Monroe County Director of Tourism, "This designation is a reflection of Mecca Camp Resort's significance in contributing to the vibrant tourism landscape of Monroe County. I believe that this designation will not only benefit Mecca Camp Resort but will also contribute to the overall tourism appeal of Tellico Plains, TN, and the surrounding areas."
Glamping Tent Revamp
Last year presented some challenges for our glamping tents after the flood, but with the support of the Monroe County Chamber, staff, work campers, and dedicated volunteers, we were able to reopen them. This spring, we've given the tents a facelift, with unique themes for each one. Whether you're an outdoorsy couple, a family seeking a getaway, or buddies exploring the Smokey Mountain 500 or Tail of the Dragon, we have something special for everyone.
The Pool
Our fantastic pool, a favorite among visitors, will officially open on April 1. Brave souls can take an early plunge, and for the third consecutive year, we're offering swim lessons with Tana Reaves as the instructor. Keep an eye on our social media for lesson dates and availability.
Visit The Porch and Meet the New Operator
As we open for the new camping season this week, we invite you to join us on Thursday, March 14, for food by Senor Lopez and cold drinks at The Porch. We're introducing a new vibe, schedule, and operator to enhance your experience. We're thrilled to announce that Dean Donally will be taking the helm as the new lead for The Porch.
Dean has been a critical part of our journey since February 2021 when we hired him for the bathhouse build-out. He played a pivotal role during a challenging time in our lives, offering unwavering support and compassion. Dean not only helped bring our vision to life but also provided guidance when Chris fell ill and during a difficult period with family matters.
His dedication and hard work were also evident during the build-out of The Porch last year, turning it into a huge success. Reflecting on Dean's contributions, we didn't just hire a contractor; we gained a friend. We are confident in Dean's abilities and are excited for the new chapter he brings to The Porch.
