This weekend, Julia and I took some time to do some Christmas shopping with local businesses in Tellico Plains. As we met with people throughout the day, the theme became clear that we didn't find Tellico Plains... Tellico Plains Found Us!
With our day of visiting with local vendors, we met so many wonderful people with great plans to support this wonderful community and all of our stories were consistent. We came down here for a visit and fell in love with the area. One vendor asked us, Tellico Plains Found You Too? And we gladly said Yes It Did!
Tellico Plains is filled with traditions and a welcoming attitude! We couldn't be happier to be apart of this community as we work to develop Mecca Camp Resort into something that everyone in Tellico can feel apart of.
Christmas Meals
This year, our family is filled with Christmas Spirit! While 2020 has been a very challenging year for a lot of people, our hearts are with those who have lost businesses or been out of work for an extended period of time! As a result, we wanted to find a way to give back this holiday season. This Christmas, Mecca Camp Resort is donating 20 meals to families in need in the Tellico Plains community. Meals include a ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and a dessert! The meals can feed a family of four! The feedback has been tremendous, and we are so excited to provide a little help to those in need this holiday season. If anyone in the Tellico Plains area is in need this Holiday Season, please know that Mecca Camp Resort is happy to help. May God Bless Everyone This Christmas!
Campground Progress
The past week has been filled with property clean up activities and travel. Julia and I found ourselves traveling back to the DC area for business and continued clean up activities with downed trees in the creek area on the property. With it being Christmas, we have also seen an influx of deliveries! As I mentioned in last week's blog, we set some snacks out for our delivery drivers. Apparently, they liked them!
Additionally, we have been working with our Architect to finalize the base map information that will support the Master Plan. We have run into a snag as we are awaiting more information from our topographic surveyor to finalize the contours on the property. These surveying delays have now put us back a couple of weeks, but we are working through it.
We also put a deposit down on the pool installation for the campground, which we are extremely excited about. We have committed to a 13 x 35 pool with gradual depth change from 3 to 5.5 feet. We really think the families staying with us will enjoy the pool and all it has to offer, including a surprising waterfall feature built using materials native to the Cherokee National Forrest!
Santa Is Camping At Mecca Camp Resort
For anyone interested.... Santa has decided to set up his travel trailer at Mecca Camp Resort as a place to take a break on Christmas Eve! We couldn't be happier that he decided to select us as one of his pit stops! :-)
